Bottled Water Isn’t Green

You are going to learn a a lot about the world of “going green” when you decide to reduce your carbon footprint and improve your regard for the world around you. For example, it might surprise you to find out that bottled water is the opposite of being green and there are a number of disadvantages to using bottled water. Even though many companies are creating “greener” bottles for their water, those throwaway, single use bottles of water are one of the worst purchases you can make in terms of reducing your carbon footprint or your effect on the world.

Going Green Tip #1: Rather than buying and using those small bottles of water, try buying and using a water filter that you can use to clean up the water that comes out of your tap. Tap water, when filtered properly, tastes just as good as the bottled stuff. Bottled water is generally expensive, and it also generates a large amount of completely unnecessary container waste as a result of its overuse in our society.

Going Green Tip #2: Buy and use a reusable water bottle whenever you can. While reusable plastic water bottles work, your best course of action is to buy and use an aluminum reusable water bottle, which will work well at work, when traveling, at school or anywhere else where you may need water on the go.

Going Green Tip #3: Pay attention to other bottled water trends as they appear, and make sure that you are going green with your water usage as much as you possibly can.

Bottled water is not a good way to go unless you are using a reusable bottle that you can fill and fill and fill without having to throw it away any time soon. Keep this in mind next time you are thirsty.
