Over the past centuries, humans have consumed considerable natural resources for all kinds of activity. The pace of consumption has been so rapid, that fears are being raised about the depletion of natural resources, and release of toxic gases into the environment which creates global warming, if scientists are to be believed. Efforts at keeping the environment clean do not seem to be working to the desired extent, and there seems to be a frenzy of consumption of all natural resources, including the fossil-fuels coal, oil and gas. The burning of these fossil-fuels has been found to be the major contributor to global warming and its adverse impact on the environment.
Degradation of the environment has been so massive, that entire forests seem to have vanished, deserts are fast expanding, sea levels are predicted to rise due to rising ocean temperatures, weather and climate are expected to change adversely affecting food production, polar ice caps are melting, many species of plants, animals, and marine life are expected to become extinct, and so on. All aspects of human activity are expected to be adversely impacted, and it seems that the future of life on this planet is at stake.
Naturally, all efforts are also being made to reverse the effects of global warming on the environment. Individuals, organizations, and governments are all working together to find solutions that could save this planet from further degradation of the environment, as well as to reverse the effects of global warming.
Some major actions involve reducing, or totally eliminating, the consumption of the fossil-fuels coal, oil, and gas. These fuels are extensively used in all major industries, as well as for transportation, and generation of electricity. These efforts involve the use of alternate fuels like biogas or hydrogen, as well as resorting to renewable sources of energy like wind and solar to generate electricity.
