The Green Way to Go

The world environment is the talk of the town these days. Ozone this, ozone that. We want to safeguard the world, so how many times do you hear the word “recycle” on a daily basis? How many of you have a “recycle bin”, too? It’s a common standard everywhere you go now. Going ‘green’ changes the world. Watch the Disney Channel, for God’s sake. Those Disney stars are into the whole “make a change” thing, about conserving energy and reusing materials to help protect the environment as best as possible. It’s not an adult standard anymore; kids are doing it, too.

How does one go ‘green’, though? For adults, it’s pretty easy. You have your recycle bin, you throw away your plastics, cans, metals, papers, and other such things. Investing in energy-efficient light bulbs and green materials such as bamboo are typical ideas. What can you, as a pre-teen or teenager do, though? Since the ‘green’ concept has gotten so global, you as a younger ‘adult’ have to think about what you could possibly do to better the environment.

It’s easy, really. Cut down on your use of electricity. Don’t run the water as much. If you’re in school, try using a bike or some other fun form of transportation other than automobile driving to help cut down on the fuel costs and pollution (although as a teenager, yes, it’s fun to drive!). If there’s anything you’re planning on getting rid of–such as toys or old books–do not throw them out. Try donating them. Maybe younger kids want some new toys, so help out by letting the landfills rest a bit as far as garbage is concerned. The less garbage, the cleaner the Earth is.

Green is a way to go. Age now has no requirement, and anyone can participate to make the Earth a cleaner place to live. So enjoy the Earth and appreciate it!
